The Health Information Technology curriculum prepares individuals with the knowledge and skills to process, analyze, abstract, compile, maintain, manage, and report health information.
Upon successful completion of all courses in this pathway, the student will be awarded a Certificate in Health Information Technology from Davidson-Davie. Once students complete the certificate they can continue their coursework towards the AAS in Health Information Technology. Graduates of the AAS program may be eligible to write the national certification examination to become a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).

Program Requirements
Admission Requirements
Students must demonstrate English and mathematics “college readiness” levels, via college-level English/math courses or by completion of or waiver credit for specified “transition” or co-requisite courses.
Progression Requirements
Students must earn a C or higher in the required courses in order to transition into the AAS program.
Technical Standards
In addition to Davidson-Davie requirements and course objectives, there are professional standards that encompass communication, motor skills, sensory and cognitive ability and professional conduct that are essential for the competent study and practice of this profession.
