Firefighter Training Block I, Firefighter Training Block II, and Firefighter Training Block III are part of the overall Continuing Education pathway. They are scheduled to allow a student to enter the program in their junior year and complete the three classes before graduation.
Note: Fire Ops 9 (Fire Control) is required after the student graduates or turns 18 to complete their NC Firefighter Certification.

FIP-3031 Continuing Education
This course includes Orientation, Fire Service Communications, Firefighter Health & Safety, Personal Protective Equipment, Building Construction, Portable Extinguishers, Fire Behavior, Tools and Forcible Entry, and Loss Control. This course will present the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and ability to satisfy the requirements of NFPA 1001: Standard for Firefighter Professional Qualifications (2019 edition). This course should be offered consistent with the most current NC Fire and Rescue Commission guidelines; contact Office for State Fire Marshal for details.
- Firefighter Training - Block II
FIP-3032 Continuing Education
This course includes Ladders, Ventilation, Ropes & Knots, Search & Rescue, Water Supplies, Hose, Streams, and Appliances, and Emergency Medical Care. This course will present the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and ability to satisfy the requirements of NFPA 1001: Standard for Firefighter Professional Qualifications (2019 edition), as well as the Emergency Medical requirements found in Chapter 6 of NFPA 1001: Standard for Firefighter Professional Qualifications (2019 edition). - Firefighter Training - Block III
FIP-3033 Continuing Education
This course includes Rescue, Fire Detection & Suppression Systems, Fire and Life Safety Initiatives, Mayday, Firefighter Safety and Survival, Hazardous Materials Ops, and TIMS. This course will present the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and ability to satisfy the requirements of NFPA 1072: Standard for Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction Emergency Response Personnel Professional Qualifications (2017 edition: Chapters 4,5,6.2, and 6.6). NFPA 1001: Standard for Firefighter Professional Qualifications (2019 edition), and the North Carolina Fire and Rescue Commission TIMS requirement.
