Library Services
Library Services promotes student learning by providing quality research services, diverse library materials, and a positive learning environment. Davidson and Davie campus libraries offer a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere for students to study and collaborate. Library staff are readily available at both locations and virtually to assist students with their information needs.
The Davidson Campus Library is located on the second floor of the Gray Edward Love Learning Resources Center on the Davidson Campus. The Davie Campus Library is located on the first floor of the Davie Community Building on the Davie Campus. Both libraries house computer labs complete with photocopying and printing services. Quiet study areas and group study rooms are also available. The library collection consists of a wide variety of print and digital resources including books, audiobooks, journals, streaming video, and much more. The Learning Commons
In keeping with Davidson-Davie’s mission statement, the Learning Commons serves as an innovative learning and testing resource which provides professional academic assistance that promotes retention and success by challenging and empowering students to maximize their academic potential. The Learning Commons Testing Center follows National College Testing Association (NCTA) recommendations on testing standards and guidelines.
The Learning Commons is located on the first floor of the Grady Edward Love Learning Resources Center on the Davidson Campus and within the Library on the first floor of the Davie Community Building on the Davie Campus. The center provides academic and assessment support, ample study space, and study rooms.
Academic support services include free in-person and online coaching/tutoring and workshops in a variety of subject areas for enrolled students at Davidson-Davie Community College on both campuses. Qualified professional coaches and peer tutors are employed by the College to share their learning strategies and problem-solving skills with any student having difficulty in a subject. Students may request academic support any time during the semester by contacting the Learning Commons at learningcommons@davidsondavie.edu (opens in a new window). The Learning Commons houses the Testing Center for the College which provides testing for classes/courses, special testing for academic programs, continuing education programs, HiSET, GED, Pearson VUE, TEAS, CASAS, TABE, HCI, and WorkKeys testing for the Career Readiness Certificate. Students who have been instructed to test in the Testing Center should schedule an appointment at least 24 hours in advance by visiting the Learning Commons Assessment Support web page (opens in a new window). When scheduling testing/assessment appointments, it is recommended to review the student testing guidelines.
